Wesley Abbott was recorded in one advertisement in the Andover Advertiser (Andover, Massachusetts) that was recorded on September 15, 1855.  Wesley Abbott Would say to the citizens of Andover, that he is prepared to take every style of Daguerreotype, in the most artistic manner, at the lowest prices.  He would say that he has the best light in the city, for taking Single Pictures or Groups, and is prepared to execute pictures of every size and price, from 50 cents to $20.

Lovers of the fine arts are invited to call and examine the rooms and apparatus, and see specimens of Stereoscopic pictures, Crayons, Magic and Metalic backgrounds, &c.

His rooms are at 19 Central Street, near the Post Office, Lowell.  March 31.  Wesley Abbott.

Frederick H. Warner was recorded in four advertisements in The Ouachita Herald (Camden, Arkansas) and one ad in the Washington Telegraph (Washington, Arkansas).  The first advertisement was recorded on May 22 & 26, 1856.  F. H. Warner Resident Ambrotypist & Daguerrean Artist, Camden, Ark.  Will open his rooms in July next, for the reception of Ladies and Gentlemen.

Ambrotypes, Sterescopes, and Daguerreotypes, will be taken in the best style.  His rooms will be open about two weeks—then closed until winter.  May 22, 1856.

The second advertisement appeared on May 22, 1856.  F. H. Warner Resident Daguerrean Artist, Camden, Will occasionally visit all the prominent towns in South Arkansas for the purpose of practicing his Art.  His rooms are in Block’s building, next door to Richmond’s corner, where he will be happy to wait on ladies and gentlemen who may favor him with a call.  Camden, Sept. 27, [1844].

The third advertisement appeared on October 2,  1856.  F. H. Warner Resident Ambrotypist & Daguerrean Artist, Camden, Ark.  Will open his rooms on the 1st December next, for the reception of Ladies and Gentlemen.

Ambrotypes, Sterescopes and Daguerreotypes will be taken in the best style.  His rooms will be open about two weeks—then closed until winter.  Sept. 11, 1856.

The fourth advertisement appeared on January 8 & 22, and March 5,1857.  F. H. Warner Artist, Has again opened his rooms in this place, where he is prepared to take Melainotypes, Ambrotypes, Spherotypes, Daguerreotypes &c., in the latest and most improved style.—Those wishing pictures will please call soon, as I expect to visit Washington in February.  Dec. 18, 1856.

The fifth advertisement appeared on November 25, 1857 in the Washington Telegraph (Washington, Arkansas).  Melainotypes and Ambrotypes.  F. W. Warner takes pleasure of informing the citizens of Washington and vicinity, that he is in their midst prepared to execute picture true to life.  All who wish to see themselves “as others see them,” would do well to call immediately, and secure their “shadow e’er the substance fades.”  An extra fine lot of Miniature Breastpins and Gold Lockets, &c.  Dark clothing best suited for a good picture.  He will remain in Washington but a short time positively.

Persons visiting Camden through the winter would do well to call at Warner’s large Sky Gallery. And examine his different style of pictures, which have no superior.

Frederick H. Warner is recorded in Pioneer Photographers From The Mississippi To The Continental Divide A Biographical Dictionary, 1839-1865.  Note the dates at the end of each advertisement only a few issues were found of The Ouachita Herald and the Washington Telegraph.  In the second advertisement the date at the end is in brackets, because of the quality of the reproduction it’s a straight line, meaning it could only be a one or a four.  So it can’t be 1814 so it has to be 1844. Or it’s a typo, most likely 1854.  As newspapers and further research  become available hopefully his activity dates become clearer.

Smith in the partnership of Bryant & Smith was recorded in an announcement June 14, 1859 in the Evening Star.  (Washington, D. C.)  From The photographers & publishers, Messrs. Bryant & Smith, we have six photographic (stereoscopic) views of scenes in and about Washington, which, for excellence of execution, are quite equal to the best French stereoscopic views.  They consist of representations of the Patent Office, Washington Monument, Jackson Statute, White House, Capitol extension, (east front,) and the tomb of Washington.  They are for sale by Franklin Philp.

Smith is recorded in the partnership of Bryant & Smith in Washington, D. C. in The World Of Stereographs by William C. Derrah.

W. B. Ranger was recorded in four advertisements in the Livingston Republican (Geneseo, New York). The first advertisement ran from October 29, 1857 to March 18, 1858. Pictures!  Pictures!  Take Notice, And Profit Thereby.  Great Photographic Gallery In Geneseo.  Two Large Rooms Combined.  Geneseo not only takes the head of being one of the finest towns in Western New York, But in the Fine Arts Ranger & Geiger’s Photographic Gallery produces the finest, boldest most natural and life-like likenesses.  Their Ambrotypes, Meininotypes, Cameotypes, Sphereotypes, and pictures taken on patent leather are superior to any taken elsewhere.  Our pictures are not only the best, but they are the cheapest.  Here you can get a good picture in a neat case For Fifty Cents And upwards.  We have now on hand the largest and best variety of Stock, both Plain and Fancy Cases, of every style and quality.  Miniatures taken in a clear and cloudy weather, and inserted in Lockets, Pins, Rings, Bracelets, Frames, &c., &c.  Pictures taken any size from that of a pea to the very largest size, and warranted.  Views of Residences take; also Miniatures of the sick or dead, at their residence if desired.  Copying of every description done in the best possible manner, and on short notice.

The second advertisement ran from May 26 to August 11, 1859.  Ranger’s Photographic And Fine Art Gallery, Now Open.  I would say to the citizens of this town and surrounding country, that I have returned and taken charge of the old Daguerrean Gallery, West side of Main street.

Photographs, Ambrotypes, Cameotypes, Grained Ambrotypes, Melainotypes, Pictures on Patent Leather, Taken in the highest style of the art.

All who want pictures give me a call, and I will give you as good work as can be obtained elsewhere.  Pictures of sick or deceased persons taken at their residences; old Daguerreotypes, Ambrotypes, or Paintings, taken and enlarged.

Citizens and Strangers are invited to call and examine work, whether they wish to purchase or not.  Satisfaction given, and all work warranted.

The fourth advertisement ran from October 27 to December 8, 1859.  Attention.  Stereoscopes and Stereo Pictures.  Something that every family should have in their parlors for their own gratification and to please their friends.  I would say to the public that I have on hand the Stereo Pictures, and Stereoscopes, which I shall sell at the lowest possible rates.  Views of all the principal points of interest in the world furnished to order, at city retail prices.  I shall keep constantly on hand a variety of pictures and instruments of different prices.  Call and see them at Ranger’s Photographic Gallery, Main St., Geneseo.  oct. 20.

James Prentice was listed in two advertisements in The New York Herald (New York, New York) and one entry from the 1859 New York City Directory.  The first advertisement ran on  May 23, 1859.  Spectacles, Stereoscopes and Views.—A New and splendid assortment can be had at 66 Nassau street.

The second advertisement appeared on May 31, 1859.  Spectacles, Stereoscopes and Views in great variety, at J. Prentice’s,  66 Nassau street.

Benjamin Pike & Sons were recorded in three advertisements in The New York Herald (New York, New York).  The first advertisement appeared on March 31, 1856.  Langenheim’s New Series of American stereoscopic views upon glass, and colored to nature by W. Loyd, Philadelphia—Genesee Valley, Niagara Falls in Winter, The Pottsville Coal Region, and other new views.  For sale by Benj. Pike & Sons, 518 Broadway.

The second advertisement appeared on April 7, 1856.  W. Loyd’s Improved Stereoscope, with F. Langenheim’s new series of American views— Niagara Falls, Genesee Valley, The Pottsville Coal Region, and other new views. A large assortment just received, by Benj. Pike & Sons, 518 Broadway.

The third advertisement ran on June 24 & 25, 1857.  Stereoscopes, Stereoscopes.—Paper Views, a new lot just received by Benj. Pike & Sons, 518 Broadway, opposite the St. Nicholas.

Benjamin Pike is recorded in Craig’s Daguerreian Registry with a different address 294 Broadway.

J. A. Pattenson

J. A. Pattenson was listed in one advertisement in The New York Herald (New York, New York) on June 10, 1854.  To The ladies—Wanted, One or Two Ladies with a capital on one hundred and fifty dollars, to learn the stereoscope daguerrean art.  A lady having this amount of capital, and wishing to get in a good and honorable business, good inducements will be made by addressing J. A. Pattenson, Broadway Post Office, with the name and residence.

Marcus A. O’Brien

Marcus A. O’Brien was recorded in one advertisement that appeared on August 15, 1855 in The New York Herald (New York, New York).  Daguerreotypes, Photographs and Stereoscopes.—Marcus A. O’Brien, so long and favorably known as principal operator in one of the oldest galleries in the city, would respectfully inform his friends and the public that he has taken the first class establishment known as Gaige’s International Daguerrean Gallery, 369 Broadway, first door above Taylor’s saloon.  Photographs, from cabinet to life size, taken less than at any other establishment in the city.  Daguerreotypes, photographs and stereoscopes taken in all kinds of weather.

Marcus A. O’Brien is recorded in Craig’s Daguerreian Register as being active in New York city 1853-1859, but is listed without a business address in 1855.

Green & Holmes

1853-1854       Rooms No. 6 Seneca Street, nearly opposite the Post Office, Geneva, New                                       York.

Green (John F.) & Holmes (D. R.) were recorded in an advertisement that ran from September 9, 1853 to January 6, 1854 in the Geneva Daily Gazette (Geneva, New York).  Daguerreotypes.  The Subscriber having connected themselves together for the purpose of Daguerreotyping, also fitted up a new suite of rooms opposite the Post Office, are now prepared to make Pictures unequalled in the vicinity.  We are now making a style of pictures never before made in this village or county, and the Only Persons that can make them—(no humbug about this notwithstanding what others may say.)  They are called Crayon Daguerreotypes.

As for Daguerreotypes we challenge competition.  We can suit the most fastidious.  We have the largest and best arranged operative room, as well as light, aside from the reception room, in the county.  Our light is well adapted to children, being three times as large as any other in the vicinity, consequently we can take them quicker.  We are the only persons in town that take the Stereoscopic or Binocular Pictures.  In fact we make all kinds of Pictures, either in colors, or oil, or on silver.  Persons wishing Daguerreotypes of themselves or friends, are invited to call and examine our specimens.  Our Rooms are opposite the New Post Office, and directly over Barnard & Van Deren’s Jewelry store.  John F.
