Daguerreotype Likenesses.—It is some time since we have ben visited by a daguerreotype artist. Mr. Mason, whose advertisement appears in our paper this week, has taken a room in the State House. He is a gentleman of skill and intelligence, and his pictures, though taken at the low price of one dollar, are the best specimens we have seen exhibited in this place.

Daguerreotype Likenesses For One Dollar! J. Hailer Mason has the pleasure of informing the inhabitants of Salisbury and vicinity that he has opened Rooms at the State House, where he will be in readiness to receive visitors between the hours of 9 A. M. and 5 P. M. Pictures taken with any desirable effect of light or shade and colored in the highest perfection of the art—and no regard to weather.
Instructions given and apparatus furnished for $50.

Daguerreotypes. We noticed last week some excellent Daguerreotype specimens exhibited by Mr. Mason who has taken rooms in the State House. Since then we have had an opportunity of seeing a number of his likenesses of our citizens, which are not only true to nature but excellent specimens of the art. Mr. Mason is one of the quickest operators we know of. He took in our presence, an excellent likeness of a child in three seconds of time, after 5 o’clock, P. M., and could have taken it in one second of time, a few hours earlier. This is an important matter to those who have children, whose likenesses they wish to secure. As Mr. Mason’s pictures are exceedingly low, only one dollar, we would advise all to embrace the present opportunity. He has also on hand a handsome assortment of cases of every style and variety.

J. Hailer Mason gave several soires magique last week. They were well attended and every one was delighted with the performance. His skill and adroitness will soon place him in the rank with the Fakir of Ava and the Wizard of the North.
