Atkins was mentioned in one advertisement that was recorded on November 18, 1853 in the Liberty Weekly Tribune (Liberty, Missouri).  Daguerrean Gallery:  Telegraph Room Court House, Liberty, MO.  J. C. R. Clark, would respectfully inform the public that having purchased out Mr. R. Atkins’ Daguerreotype Stock he is now prepared to take miniatures in a superior style.

His friends, Ladies, and Gentlemen, and the public generally, are politely invited to call at his room and examine specimens.  His miniatures are warranted to give satisfaction.  Liberty, June 24, 1853.
