Donovan was mentioned in an advertisement that was recorded on May 7, 1857 in the  Michigan State Journal (Lansing, Michigan).    Now is the Time to get Good Ambrotype Likenesses.  The Undersigned Would Respectfully inform the Citizens of Lansing and vicinity that he is now prepared to take good Ambrotype Portraits, in the latest and most approved style and finish.  Those wishing Good Pictures would do well to call at the stand formerly occupied by D. H. Donovan.
