In an article in the Photographic and fine Arts Journal published on April 1, 1856 entitled the Photographic Galleries of America.  Number Two, Philadelphia. The author visited 57 Galleries in Philadelphia, this is what he said,

Bennet, Eighth St.—We have here the highly valuable 25 cent picture, suitable for those who like rough sketches.
