E. A. Smith appeared in two advertisements in the Western Reserve Chronicle (Warren, Ohio).  The first advertisement ran from September 17 to November 5, 1856.  Ambrotypes—Pure Nitrate Silver, Sulphate Iron, Acetic Acid, Colodion, Glass Bottles, Funnels, &. C., at E. A. Smith & Co.

The second advertisement ran from November 12, 1856 to February 17, 1858.  Ambrotype Stock And Chemicals.  Cases of various sizes and styles.  Plates and Convex Glass, all sizes.  Glass funnels, assorted sizes.

Iodized Collodion and Varnishes, Vials, Bottles, Cyanide, Bromide and Iodide Potassium, Proto Sulphate Iron, Nitrate Silver, Concentrated Ether, Sulphuric Acid, Gallic Acid, Acetic Acid, No. 8, and a full assortment of Pure Chemicals.
